Instinctive Adventures is all about hunting. Really its all about the outdoors. I love to hunt and fish, and most importantly I like to share it with the world through film. You'll see a lot of traditional bowhunting, but I'll hunt with a rifle or shotgun from time to time. Check out my recent videos and drop me a line and let me know what you think! #1229457
Traditional Bowhunting OTC Colorado Elk-2023
The way this trip changed me made it to where I couldn't not post anything about it. The shortest of my short films. Still packs a punch I think and I look forward to my chance to go again.

Join us in the fields of WV, as we chase down some pheasants with our old bear recurves. We had a blast and this hunt is definitely a challenge. Wing shooting with a recurve has always been something I wanted to try. A good friend invited me on this hunt and I finally fulfilled a long time goal of mine. Shooting a pheasant on the wing with a stickbow. I hope you enjoy!

You are without a doubt the best story teller and thought provoking youtuber I've ever watched, thank you
I was wondering what is best to cut carbon arrows with.
If moneys not an issue an arrow saw is best by far. You seem me cutting them with a metal blade in a radial saw in this video, and I’ve also bought the little harbor freight saw and it works okay too
This is an amazing short film. It’s so true that if you just stop and take in what’s around you that you will become a better woodsman.
A hunting trip like that can be a life changing experience.
Thanks for taking us along! Amazing scenery!
Motorola has been around forever! We were using the Motorola radios back in the mid 1980s as a Marine Security Guard at embassies around the world!
Motorola was sold to a Chinese company so, not the same. In this case, Motorola did not design or manufacture this device. They only licensed their name and logo to Bullitt. Bullitt also marketed the Cat (as in Catapillar the heavy equipment manufacturer) cellphone. Catapillar has also licensed their name and logo to Bullitt. Bullitt has laid off all of their employees and has filed bankruptcy. So far, they have failed to acquire additional funding or find a buyer for the company. If you search, you can find info about the Bullitt bankruptcy. Bullitt does not own the satalites or the ground stations but, without the Bullitt service or a new provider, the Defy will not continue to work. I have one and hope somehow the service will continue.
Wow, thanks😮
Great idea for a arrow saw.
My 2TC is a little over 3 lbs, and i can rappel with it,
you must be one sticking. I actually SRT now exclusively. I'll make more climbing videos when things warm up some this off season
@@InstinctiveAdventures negative. I 2TC. The tree is the only stick required.
Thanks for sharing! Look forward to more of your videos!
Thanks for watching! Getting ready to upload more here soon
Man, you like a monkey! Great presentation skills, I could listen to you talk all day.
How do you pack the Defy when traveling to your hunting destination? Any issues or concerns about pressing the large uncovered SOS button?
Nope it was a non issue for me. You have to hold the bottom down for 5 seconds to actually send the SOS, so if you bump it or accidentally press it you’re not going to have a chopper show up
Hell yeah brother some one was offering me a trade for this saddle for my brand new jx3 never used witch has led me to your UA-cam new saddle hunter here from the good old eastern shore glad I found your channel man
Glad you’re here bother. I’m still using this saddle. Still as comfortable as the day I got it. Unfortunately Aerohunter isn’t making hunting saddles anymore
Hey, I set it up ok. However, I sent a couple messages from my phone with the Defy flashing green to indicate it was connected, but the recipients never received the message. Any suggestions? The instructions that come with the device are scant.
Does it show the check next to your messages sent in the bulit app?
Maryland sika deer are some of the hardest hunting I have ever done, but at the same time, it's the most addicting. Good luck in your future pursuit of these majestic animals.
This season was the most ridiculous season to date. Soooooooo addicting

This is great, good job on this.
Thanks man I appreciate this
Being stuck/injured in a valley with this device is one of my worries because you need to have a clear view of the southern sky for it to work, unlike the Garmin devices which use the LEO Iridium network. It sucks that Iridium has such crazy service fees, but until other satellite players like Starlink or whatever Bezos is trying to set up is a viable option, I guess we'll have to deal with this near service monopoly.
I was in the sangres and only had a lapse of about 20 hiking mins at a very slow pace. I’ll be very curious to see how it performs in the dark valleys of the Appalachians this season. But I’ve heard of similar issues with Garmin and zoleo devices. This device uses Inmarsat and echo star. Those two together are at about half the satellite count of iridium, but I’d wager that will change rapidly.
I really enjoy all of your videos!! Have you ever thought about the afterlife? Do you know Jesus as your Savior?
yes & yes, I just subbed your channel.
Fantastic video mate. I would try a great plains sr swift recurve i absoluttely love mine
When i was in the scouts we used purification tablets and so the water always tasted pretty bad. Wish these were around back then.
The little after taste I reference in this video is nothing compared to the taste after tablets. Those things are horrible
I was just out in Colorado at the end of August visiting Ouray. While driving to Telluride, I saw a monster Mule Deer buck out there. Left me speechless. Beautiful country out there. Hope to hear and see more footage of your hunting trip.
Great video! If you'd like to do a LIVE test of the SOS button to experience the Overwatch x Rescue response process, let us know and we'd be happy to walk your through it.
I’m glad I seen your video I’m going to look into getting the defy, good luck on your upcoming season I hope you get a chance to arrow some deer.
Very cool video mate. Great story
Outstanding Hunt! Great post !
How did they fly after fetching? Great video!
Great vid man keep ‘em coming! I’m a Texas transplant from PA, was very sad when I realized how little public land there is in Texas. Fortunately there is some it just takes a lot of research to find it and driving hours away if you live in or near a big city… but the public land permit is only 50$ so it is possible to do on a budget.
That’s great info thanks for sharing. I have a buddy that lived and Texas and he was cursed with no close by public land. But I know there is some. But it’s something staggering like less than 5% of Texas whereas a lot of western states have larger percentages of public
I absolutely love your videos, you have an amazing talent
Thank you so much!!! And thanks for watching
Interesting topic was nice to see opposites sit down and talk face to face and have a conversation they are passionate about. That is something that is rare in today's society.
Definitely rare in todays society!!
Technically a seven pointer but I was about to take the shot but he got spooked and ran away.
Excellent video. Thanks for putting it out and expressing what some of us traditional bow hunters experience and love. Great job.
Albino fawn but I let him grow up and he was a 10 point and I forgot to pack my bulits and my naber killed it the same day😢
4 point and I had him at five yards broadside.
I have a 46 lb @ 27”. Black widow pma. I got a dozen of the 400 spine instincts. And use 150grain points. Havnt bareshafted yet but do you think that is a good spine for that poundage?
Might be too stiff, but will be close. Those instincts don’t act like their spine from my experience either. So I might be wrong. Bareshaft will be the only way to tell
How did you decide the starting spine? That's a 100gr outsert and what looks like a 200gr point. Do you choose based on full length from Black Eagle's chart then start tuning and cutting?
Really great question, I should have said something in the video. If you’re using standard inserts with a standard 100-150 head you can use manufacture spine charts, if you’re going more of a higher FOC mindset and using brass inserts or a heavier head you’ll want to use a dynamic spine calculator. That will at least get you into the ballpark. 3 rivers has a pretty decent spine calculator
If you’re more of a hands on person starting with a blank slate you can order spine kits for both shafts and heads. Again three rivers sells spine kits where you get basically one of each spine
I like it!
Sika deer are deer that constitute the genus Ocellelaphus, there are four extant species of sika deer: the Southeast Asian Sika Deer (Ocellelaphus pseudaxis), the Chinese Sika Deer (Ocellelaphus mandarinus), the Formosan Sika Deer (Ocellelaphus taiouanus), and the Japanese Sika Deer (Ocellelaphus nippon), the japanese sika deer is the only living deer species found in Japan.
Agreed!
My first recurve was that exact bow. Just getting back into archery after 20 years
I really wish you had have recorded the short tracking job. I shot my first one yesterday and was in some really thick stuff like you were and to my horror he ran off with my arrow like lieutenant Dan. I looked for an hour but it was so thick and dense I couldn't find him or the arrow :( Do you have any tips or tricks that work in this situation?
What kinda heads are you shooting?
@@InstinctiveAdventures that particular one was a judo point.
@@niksutherland4280 I’ve had bad luck with judo’s and small game. I almost always shoot cheap shots now. Much better blood trails
@@InstinctiveAdventures appreciate this comment. Actually never heard of cheap shots so I'm going to check into those now. Thank you brother and looking forward to next video
This video sparked an idea for making a small platform with a stick like was used, or a board which should be more comfortable then a couple tree steps which I use now. Thanks
Guess I just set a new world record at 400 yards. Bullshit!
Dude this video is 14 years old, I was just a bored teenager having some fun. Well before 22 ELR became a thing
Tim Wells soundalike..🤔
Awesome video, need your but wet on pl for a good stag.
I always go through a good bit of water before getting to my spots, it ain’t easy
My biggest pass is 158
Jesus that’s a toad
This is pretty remarkable on so many levels. Great work.
Wow. Awesome. That was magic, captured the why without the completion of the goal, why it’s hunting not killing. Great stuff
Chris, very nicely done enjoyed the video they are like ghost. Going down to the shore in January to hunt them. Congratulations on the video!
Great job on the hunt, I love watching your videos you’re a natural storyteller. Keep the videos coming and merry Christmas to you and your family.
